KHALIFAH RELEASES DETAILS FOR BUILDING PERSONAL LIBRARIES ON RADIO SHOW: BOOKNOTES – DISCOUNT BLACK BOOKSTORE TO OPEN; REPARATIONS NEWS & ETC
FEBRUARY 5, 2009
SOUTHAMPTON, VA – The curiously awaited first “cybercast” of “Khalifah’s Booknotes” was aired on harambeeradio.com, Wednesday, February 4, 2009. The hour long show lived up to projections to the “polemic” journalistic writing style of H. Khalif Khalifah.
He had no Guest during the first hour, opening with a statement that asserted the show would be segmented in a format “like chapters in a book.” Opening statement, Commentary on the news of the day, Discussion of the ten “Most important books in the history of the world;” and the last segment was given to opening the phone and e-mail lines for questions and commentary from the audience.
Khalifah identified the main problem in Black America as the long suffering, but Noble people are confused about what is in their own best interest in “the white supremacist way of life in governance.” And stating that is “what this show, my spiritual and business life over the past 35 years have been all about.”
PROCESS OF RESISTANCE TO WHITE SUPREMACY
During the news segment, Khalifah tried to disabuse Black people “of the notion that Barack Obama should be held accountable for their liberation. He said: “It has been about three weeks since the inauguration of Barack Obama and Black people still aren’t free.
“I want to tell Black people who continue to try to hold Barack Obama accountable to give up that notion and go to work.
“Barack Obama is doing the work he was elected to do. Black people must be about the business that we, apparently, were selected to do.” That is “Do for Self” to win our freedom.
On Black U. S. Senator Raymond Burris “Reparations Amendment” to the Obama Stimulus package before congress, Khalifah would not venture whether it was a reparations amendment until he could determine whether all of the “options that will be available to Black people on “Reparations Day” are addressed.”
If the only option addressed is putting money in the hands of Black people who will put their reparations back into the U.S. economy, then the bill is not a Reparations bill, but a Compensation Bill. A discussion about the difference in the two was promised for a future show.
The hour went quickly and was extended a 1/2 hour so it come be completed. Brother Haki Ammi, a Harambee radio talk show host on Tuesday evening called in and stayed the rest of the way…Nadirah Khalifah made an announcement regarding the “combining of three traditional holidays during Black History month into one,” at an all day “Open House” at Khalifah’s Estate on the land of Nat Turners Birth in Southampton County, Virginia.
The holidays are the Nation of Islam’s Saviours Day which is observed on February 26; Reparations Awareness Day, February 25 and a new day that the Khalifah Family began four years ago with a dinner in their home. After dinner each guest is asked to share information about someone, little known, or well known in Black history.
The two long honored days will be observed and celebrated into one, along with the Black History Month Gathering/dinner on February 21. Free and open to the public. Call (704) 277-1462 for more information. Email khalifahpublishing@khabooks.com
