For the 17th year, UBUS Communications Systems will present Awards to Independent Black Writers. The winning categories will include "The Carter G. Woodson Award" given to the person who in our estimation, did the most in 2008 to "re-educate" Black people.

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA – The “Black Book Awards for Excellence in Black Literature” will be in Charlotte, North Carolina, May 31 through June 2 2008. Black writers are invited to submit their work by April 30 for consideration for “Book of the Year, Best Book of the Year, Carter G. Woodson Award, Best New Writers – Female, Best New Writer of the Year – Male, and Best New Writers of the Year – male and female. To win a category, April 30 is final deadline.
