SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA – October 15, 2005, the day before the official celebration of the Million Man March, in Howard University’s “moot courtroom” to a full auditorium and a potential viewer-ship of some 50,000,000 worldwide on C-SPAN, Dr. Kamau Kambon spoke words that still reverberate in the fearful psyche of many white people.
Dr. Kambon’s controversial statement prevented the stated purpose for the calling of Pro-Black Media Forum: “to launch a National Network THAT WOULD BE A MEDIA THROUGH WHICH THE VIEWS OF Independent Black Voices could be heard to keep the National Black Community informed – 24-7 – during crisis, especially during national emergencies.”
The PBMF was co-sponsored by Publisher H. Khalif Khalifah: so the statement by Dr. Kambon was certainly not the reason for the event; or for having the already well known scholar and businessman on the program: this coming October 17, the day after the Day of Atonement, there will be a re-constitution of the historic event. This time the “Pro-Black Media Network will be launched to a world-wide audience.
THE PRO-BLACK MEDIA CONFERENCE: AT THE
KHALIFAH ESTATES IN SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA.
The PBM[Conference] will be this coming October 17, 2009 at Khalifah Estates in Southampton County, Virginia. It will be over a period of Saturday Morning, from 10 am to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be a registration fee of $25.00 per person. The fee includes the price of dinner and beverage. There will be limited seating: so all interested are advised to register early.
Once again, major black media personalities are asked to share their views, and comments on the “organizational structure’ that is in place and function, it was partly based on the passion and fervor of the words Black journalist in 2005.
A strong, Independent Pro-Black National network to keep black people informed, in general, but especially during National Emergencies - is needed more now than ever; and the opportunity to build has never been more opportune: technology makes it so.
PBMF CALLED IN AFTERMATH OF KATRINA
Pro-Black Media Forum was called in the after-math of the devastating national disaster called Katrina; Thousands of Black people were killed, maimed or relocated from their homes; many could have been saved IF they had received proper information “before, during and after the hurricane.”
The first 25 who register and attend the PBMC, will have an opportunity to contribute to the successful conversion of the PBM structure into a communications system that will blunt the above from ever happening again.
“Black people continue to come up with programs in response to the systems that white people have in place that are killing us. When our programs are applied to their systems, they are absorbed and essentially neutralized. What we need to do is devise systems to counter their systems of genocide against us.”
