Good morning my beautifull Queens and Kings. I would like for you to ask yoursleves a question. Think on it before answering as will I... In this ever speeding spiral downwards we call american society, what have you done to aid your people? What sacrifices were made to assure a stronger foundation for those to come?
25/8 is a loose volunteer alliance of individuals, groups, and orgnizations who are concerned about our community. 25/8 understands and sees the necessity for initiating programming to educate and inform our people. In fulfilling our basic goals, 25/8 will convene at African-owned venues and business establishments to get that community involved with the understanding that taking monies out of the community or the county where their child attends public schools affects everyone in said community. Our meetings will be conducted with respect for all of Gods' Creations. Oppressed people have always had more love and respect for humanity and God's creations than the oppressor. We know that our ancestors will hold us accountable to work in their spirit with each of our fellow Afrikan Sistas and Brothers. 25/8's approach for developing a positive relationship with the Afrikan community will be pro-active and non-antagonistic. We understand that a reactive antagonistic approach only creates opportunities for the forces against our people's 'unity' and organization to disrupt our cause.
Keeping with the principles of MAAT - Truth, Justice, Harmony, Balance, Order, Reciprocity and Righteousness, 25/8 will respond accordingly.
Kwanzaa Principles will be read at each gathering to provide guidelines. All Afrikans involved in the struggle, understand the statement "BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY" is not a statement of empty rhetoric. We know that there are forces in the world working 24/7 to undermine the peaceful organizational and unification efforts of Afrikan People. Just as these forces work 24/7 to frustrate our apsirations, Ishirini Na Tano Nane (25/8) must be working pass frivolity, through and around pettiness, from can't see in da mornin' till can't see at night from outside and inside da box and them some.
Asante Sana for taking time to read this Ishirini Na Tano Nane Love Message...
There will be a "LOVE RALLY"
Where: Kitty Kat Club (1/2 block west of Cade Chapel), Jackson, Mississippi
When: Saturday, August 23, 2008 from 5:pm to 7pm
UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY
This isn't even a 3rd of what people can do. But it is something!
Myself, Nana Yaa and Martha Msemaji are the Kwanzaa coordinators for Jackson. We also have a organization of natural hair, lock loving women we call "Mothers and Daughters of Sankofa" that has just started but will make a great impact with and upon our community.
I also work in the Muslim community of Jackson, Mississippi as the office manager for the International Museum of Muslim Cultures, to remind people that the majority of those kidnapped from Africa were muslims and scholars. I have attached a walk through of the museum for for your viewing.
Sacrifice is a european term and state of mind. You do what must be done!
To me, to say sacrifice, is to say 'regret'. I didn't know her personally, but I don't believe that Sojourner Truth used the word "sacrifice" in what she did, but she did tell a few that she would sacrifice them before she let them turn and run back to the the plantation. Now, that's doing what must be done.
Greetings!
You pose one of the basic questions we all will need to answer, sooner or later - in a crisis or at peace. In discussing related information with my grown children, i stated that "the sacrifices of my generation paved the way for opportunities that your generation is moving in. Your generation has no visible 'social activist' paving the way for generations behind you."
There are many reasons for things as they seem. The least of the reasons is NOT the brutal ways the would-be-activist minds were marginalized. Nevertheless, the strains of Black Nationalism is still there. After the mobility hits the wall of White Supremacy, the strains of Black nationalism will be forged by some, or someone into proper action.
I am an Elder with certain resources that are being carefully shared and managed for Black Youth. Recipients need not be Black Nationalist, but must be determined to serve Black people to resist and defeat white supremacy...........Khalifah
